Get Twitterpated – Introduction
Do you tweet? Using Twitter is a great resource for marketing your business. If you don’t know much about Twitter, this is a great place to start.
What Is Twitter?
Twitter is a social networking site that uses microblogging to get people connected. Twitter posts, known as tweets, answer the question, “What’s happening?” In 140 characters or less, users can post an update that appears on their profile page and on the pages of the people who follow that user.
How Twitter Can Help Your Business
As of March 2010, Twitter has an Alexa ranking of 12. That means it is the 12th most popular site in the world. So, what that means for your business is that you can reach a lot of people in one place, in real time. For Free. (That free part is pretty great, isn’t it?)
You have this huge audience for free, so what can it do for your business? Twitter lets you stay connected to your customers. You can share information with clients and potential clients, get feedback in real time, and you can build relationships and brand recognition.
Share Information
Twitter is a great way to share information with your customers, including new products or services, discounts or promotions, featured products, and information related to the product or service you sell. It is also a great place to direct people back to your business website.
Get feedback
Twitter is also a great place to get feedback about your product or service. You can search for tweets that contain the name of a product you sell and find out what people like or don’t like (because people tweet about everything, including how much they love their new Snuggie or how their FlowBee broke after only two uses). You can respond to the feedback or you can consider how to improve your product.
Build Relationships and Brand Recognition
Twitter can be incredibly useful for building brand recognition. Because Twitter is really conversational, you can build relationships with your followers. Twitter lets your followers feel like they are part of the conversation, and that they might be able to influence things you do. Twitter can be a great part of your overall marketing strategy.
