Show Some Twitter Love

twitter love birdJust like all things social media, Twitter has some rules of common courtesy. Being good to your followers will mean they will be good to you. It’s the Golden Rule of Twitter: Tweet unto others as you would have them tweet unto you.

#ff
Not sure what the little hashtag ff means? It’s the category tag for FollowFriday. FollowFriday is a way of giving some love to someone you follow who you think others should follow as well. Rather than posting a string of names, show some individual love and tell your followers why you recommend a particular Twitter user.

Replies
Responding to people who tweet at you, or who tweet information you appreciate is a great way to add to the conversation and let them know you feel the love and want to give it back.
Social media is supposed to be social and interactive. Replies create relationships with people that may otherwise just be voyeuristic.

RTs
RTs, or retweets, are a great way to pass on the information that you think is useful to your followers. Those who post great content should be recognized for it. By retweeting them, you show them you value their tweets and think people you know would value it too. It’s like an online word-of-mouth recommendation.

Nice to Meet You
When you have two friends that you think would be good friends, you introduce them to each other. You can show the same love on Twitter, by introducing two Twitter users that you think have a lot in common or who could use each others’ services. It’s more personal than a FollowFriday recommendation, but offers similar good vibes.

Remember when you use Twitter that a little kindness goes a long way.
