Get Twitterpated – Build Your Brand

If you need more background information on Twitter, check out our previous posts for an introduction to Twitter,  information on how to get followers on Twitter, posting about products on Twitter, sharing useful information on Twitter, and using feedback on Twitter.

Build Relationships and Your Brand
All of the recommended tweet areas will help you build your brand, but it’s also important to build relationships with your customers. You want people to have good feelings about your business, and the transparency that Twitter provides is a good way to do that.
One company that really gets involved with their customers is Tasti D-lite (@tastidlite), a dessert franchise. They have a very involved relationship with people who use their product. They follow people who post about their product and get involved in conversations with them.
Another great example of getting involved with the Twitter audience is The White House (@whitehouse). They often enter conversations with others who are also on Twitter like the house democrats (@housedemocrats) and often retweet the Press Secretary’s (@PressSec) tweets.

How can you use this strategy for your business?

Search for your business name and respond to tweets that others have posted. Don’t get into heated debates with people though. That will just make you look bad.
If someone is unhappy with your product or service and there’s an easy fix, offer a solution. Other people will see this as a commitment to your customers.
If someone says something nice about your business, thank them. It’s just good manners.
You can also search for keywords that pertain to your business, and offer answers to questions that people may have. If you are a DJ, respond to a post about great dance music for weddings. Just listing a few songs might get someone interested in your services.
