There are many external websites and applications that can make your Twitter experience even better. Here are a few of our favorites.

1. URL Shorteners – Since you only have 140 characters to tweet in, posting a long URL is not a great idea. There are several sites that will shorten your URL for you. Try bit.ly or tinyurl.com.

2. Scheduled Tweets – If you know you are going to want to post something at a specific time, but you are worried you might forget, or you want to schedule many tweets to go out at a variety of times, you can use Tweet schedulers. Try twuffer.com or autotweeter.

3. Twitter Interactions – Tweets can be fed into Facebook, your blog, or other social media sites. This way, you post in one place and it will show up in the other place as weil. Try twitterfeed.com.

4. Directories – There are a number of Twitter directories on the web and you can list in many of them for free under whichever category best fits your business. Try TwitR or twitwho.
