Are you new to this whole Facebook thing? Start with our introduction to Facebook.
Facebook Pages
A Facebook Page is different than a personal profile. A page is used by organizations, products, businesses, or public personalities and allows them to connect with Facebook users. The page is customized by the page administrators (who must have a personal Facebook account).
People can “like” your page (it used to be called “become a fan”). When they do this, it posts on their wall that they like your business and publishes it to all of their friends. When the average user has 130 friends, that’s a lot of exposure for your business. The great thing about this is that because Facebook is a giant network of friends, you get people who are advocates of your business essentially recommending it to their friends.
When a page administrator posts to their page, it will appear in the news feeds of all of the page’s fans. This is a great voice for your business.
Getting People to Like You
Who doesn’t want to be popular? For a Facebook page, popularity is a really good thing. Each person that “likes” you gets your updates in their news feed. That’s some great exposure for your business . So, how do you get people to become a fan?
The first thing you should do is to suggest that your friends on your personal account become fans of your page. Do this by going to your page and clicking “suggest to friends.” A pop-up will appear with all your friends. Select those you want to send a request to. You can have your friends do this to all their friends too.
This is only the beginning to getting people to like you. The best way to get fans is create great content for your page. If you build a great online presence with interesting content, they will follow.
