These days, it seems like the internet and social networking go hand-in-hand. So, how can your business capitalize on all this hype? Well, a great place to start is Facebook. Facebook might not be right for every business, so let’s look at the demographics and see if it’s a good fit for your business.
According to Facebook, there are more than 350 million active users, fifty percent of which log in on any given day. That’s a lot of people you can reach. But, reaching people doesn’t mean much unless they are people who are the right demographic for your business.
If you are a U.S.-based business, you can be pretty sure that there are people out there that Facebook is reaching that are potential clients for you. According to O’Reilly media, of the users from the United States, 47% are in the age range of 26-54. The percentage of college-age users (18-25) is 38%. Is that an age range you’d like to hit with your message? Facebook might be a good fit for you.
The gender split is pretty even. Men make up 44% of the users, with 51% of users being women (5% decline to state).
What about the geographical regions? Up to 70% of Facebook users are outside of the United States. That’s great news for businesses that are looking to capitalize on an international market. And, with Facebook’s translation services, you can reach a huge audience.
This just gives you a little taste of how a Facebook account might be able to work for your business. Stay tuned to our blog for more information about using all kinds of social media, including Facebook, to grow your small business.
