Google Instant

So we all google right?

Well, the term google has quickly become part of our everyday language, and the company Google continues to build web applications that we can’t seem to live without after we get addicted to them. The number one application being Google’s massive search engine.

So loyal googler’s have probably already noticed the latest Google search functionality, Google Instant. As Google explains:

Google Instant is a new search enhancement that shows results as you type. We are pushing the limits of our technology and infrastructure to help you get better search results, faster. Our (Google’s) key technical insight was that people type slowly, but read quickly, typically taking 300 milliseconds between keystrokes, but only 30 milliseconds (a tenth of the time!) to glance at another part of the page. This means that you can scan a results page while you type.

Will Google Instant Change the Search Results?

No, Google Instant will not have any impact on the ranking of web pages in the Google index, but Google Instant will have an impact on how people search and what they search for.

While searchers still can search on Google the old-fashioned way – type your phrase and click enter – I think the majority of searches will come from the Google Instant suggestions.

People will no longer have to think and type what they want to find, Google will do it for them.

This concept alone has a lot of folks in the SEO community up in arms, however, we feel as we do about any changes to search engine optimization, you simply have to keep up with the changes in technology and continue to build your brand through consistent and relevant marketing.
