One of the best things you can do when sending out email newsletters is to be relevant.  There are a number of ways in which you can do this.

Know your audience – What do your customers want from you? Why do they subscribe to your newsletter?  Customers may have subscribed to your newsletter because they want to be notified of promotions. They may have subscribed because they want expert information of a given topic (you’re the expert in this scenario). Give them what they want and use a CRM software which you can find right here to keep track of everything which happens with the customers.

Project your image – Your newsletter should reflect the same brand image your portray on your website. You want your customer to readily be able to identify your brand with the newsletter you send. Make sure that the images and text you use are easy to scan.

Be topical – Good email newsletters make the most of the time when they’re sent. For example, if you’re a massage therapist, in the month of May, play with the Mother’s Day theme and offer mom massages.  And, the topics don’t need to be tied to greeting card holidays.  In September, offer a “the kids are back to school, so I can finally take care of me” massage discount.  Be creative. If you sell fire extinguishers, offer a promotion to contain the burning flames of love in for Valentine’s Day.

Vary your content – People will get irritated if every time you send out a newsletter, it covers the same topic or offers the same promotion.  Get out of the mindset that you should only have to think of creative marketing once and then use it over and over again. The best brands come up with a different marketing campaign all the time. You should too.
